Gene Homologs
To identify the species with homologous genes I used Homologene (2) and BLAST (1) databases.
Human [Homo sapiens]
Gene: fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 isoform 1 precursor Accession number: NC_000010.10 Dog [Canis lupus] Gene: fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 precursor Accession number: NC_006610.3 Fly [Drosophilia melanogaster] Gene: blt, breathless Accession number: NT_037436.3 |
Mouse [Mus musculus]
Gene: fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 isoform IIIc Accession number: NC_000073.5 Zebrafish [Danio rerio] Gene: fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 isoform 3 precursorAccession number: NC_007124.5 |
Chicken [Gallus gallus]
Gene: fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 precursor Accession number: NC_006093.3 Bovine [Bos taurus] Gene: fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 Accession number: NC_007327.5 |
Alignments
None of the programs available, including T-Coffee, MUSCLE, Phylogeny.fr, and ClustalW, were able to produce an alignment of the Fgfr2 gene homologs due to the size of these gene sequences. However, alignments were produced for the protein homologs. To see the protein alignments click here.
Analysis
A BLAST analysis was attempted to compare the seven homologs and retrieve an E -value for quantitative analysis since no alignments were possible. However, the BLAST program failed to produce results for these sequences. Further attempts at a quantitative analysis of these genes will be made and this webpage will be updated accordingly.
